This Summer School has been developed as a collaborative venture of the Sisters of St Joseph and St Columban's Mission Society.
The course is suited to those who are called to live and minister in an unfamiliar cultural setting, and to those who continue to live in their familiar culture, while ministering across cultures.
In an increasingly global society, cross cultural preparation is essential for many ministries. this course provides theological, spiritual, psychological and social understanings for people crossing into an unfamiliar culture in aspects of their ministry .
The course is holistic in approach, addressing global issues such as inter-religious dialogue, contemporary mission theology and the development of peoples side by side with more personal, social, emotional and spiritual consequences of culture crossing.
On January 28th 2014, 12 religious men and women gathered at St Joseph's to participate in the 11th Annual Cross Cultural Summer School.
The participants came from Belarus, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Tanzania and Australia. These women and men will be ministering in Japan, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste, The Kimberleys Western Australia and other Australian states.
